What is Healthy Blaenavon?
Healthy Blaenavon is a developing social movement involving the local people and local organisations from across the local community. We want to improve health and wellbeing in the communities we live and work within. Led by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board through its Integrated Wellbeing Network Programme and actively supported by the Healthy Blaenavon Officer of Blaenavon Town Council, conversations with people living and working in Blaenavon will shape how this movement develops.
What do we mean by Healthy?
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines healthy as

We value and use our local assets including people, groups, buildings and open spaces to enhance the health and wellbeing of our community.
Public services and local organisations collaborate to build positive relationships and work together better to make the best use of what we have.
In Healthy Blaenavon
Organisations who deliver services and support work co-productively with people, building on their strengths to find their own solutions.
Local services are connected to each and other and to local well-being resources supporting people to get the right support from the right person at the right time.
Healthy Blaenavon recognises that there are many aspects to physical and mental health and that ‘healthy’ looks different for everyone. This website has been developed by the Healthy Blaenavon Partnership, it’s the place to go for information on local opportunities, services and information in your local community. We hope the resources on this website help you maintain and improve your mental and physical health.
